Here to help you shop local
The Beacon Beacon Rewards launches today, April 24th, 2025.
There’s a saying that goes, “when you buy from a small business, an actual person does a little happy dance.” It’s a cute quote that happens to be true. There are so many good reasons to shop local and buy from small, independent business owners, especially when you live in Beacon, NY. Whether you’re shopping for essentials, treats, or gifts, it feels good knowing your purchases support the local economy. A thriving Main Street can help the community thrive, as well. Increased sales tax revenue means greater resources for everyone. Plus, supporting a small business owner who’s given everything to build their dream makes your purchase even more special.

Introducing something new
So, today we’re launching something new that we hope will help everyone shop local more often, whether you live in Beacon or you’re exploring Main Street on a weekend trip. Keep reading to learn more.
We created The Beacon Beacon with the goal of becoming the go-to resource for all good things in Beacon. It’s a visual and inclusive guide to the abundant indie shops and businesses, eateries, things to do, and places to stay in Beacon. Our number one goal is to shine a light on everyone who makes Beacon a Hudson Valley gem.
Our website’s Eat & Drink, Shop, Stay, Arts & Culture, Salon & Spa, and Community directories feature every business, every community organization and service, and every arts venue. (If someone based in Beacon is missing from one of our directories, it was an accident we’re always willing to rectify!) We celebrate the everyday and highlight the beauty of Beacon on Instagram and Facebook. But it all leads up to one thing: Making sure locals and visitors have an easy to use, up-to-date resource to make the most of their time here.

It’s hard to know every shop, restaurant, or business in the city even if you’re a die-hard, long-time local. Not that we’re complaining. It’s a good problem to have. With Beacon’s mile long Main Street, more than 90 shops and 90 eateries, breweries, a distillery, bars, and places to stop for coffee or tea, you never know where your new favorite spot might be. That’s why we’ve been creating seasonal guides, food guides, a coffee and tea guide, and even a “where to park” guide. Because who wants a trip to Main Street or a vacation here to be hard work when it doesn’t need to be?

The Beacon Beacon Rewards
We’re excited to continue growing our editorial platform and to celebrate all good things in the city. There’s so much to know about our small community of less than 15,000 people. And we also want to offer affordable and helpful support to the businesses interested in telling their story and reaching new customers. That’s why today we’re introducing a new dimension to The Beacon Beacon called The Beacon Beacon Rewards.
Launching today
We’re launching The Beacon Beacon Rewards as a test program that partners with Beacon’s local businesses to reward customers for shopping local. It’s a win-win for everyone! Each week, we’ll share which businesses are taking part and what they’re offering. The offer could be a straightforward discount, a gift with purchase, or something completely different. It’s up to the participating businesses.
We’re so grateful to the five amazing Beacon businesses who’ve agreed to test the program with us for the coming month—at no cost to them—to see if it’s something our readers would like. Our newsletter subscribers will be the first to get notification of The Beacon Beacon Rewards each Thursday morning. So, be sure to sign up to our newsletter if you’d like to be the first to know what’s being offered each week. And tell your friends!
