A Lost Wallet

By Linda Pratt, Producer of Twice Told

A past spring in Beacon.

That first spring post-pandemic restrictions, we were all so eager to get out amongst one another again.  I met a friend at Draught Industries.  Feeling merry after our second margarita, it was time to leave.

As I got to the door, another friend I hadn’t seen in forever came in.  I gave them the kind of  “aren’t you glad Covid is over” hug, not giving thought to anything else, including my belongings.  I walked home content being among my people again.

That is, until morning when I couldn’t find my wallet. First thought. What to cancel? But, I’m a procrastinator especially with dread, so I took some of my emergency cash and got my usual cup of coffee at Bank Square Coffee House. Still procrastinating when I got home, I opened the front door to get the morning paper.  There on my doormat was my wallet. Fully intact.  Still don’t know who put it there.
