This is Beacon!

By Susan Johnson, co-owner of Dennings Point Distillery

A red brick garage style building with a blue door. On it is a painted bottle of bourbon and dark colored cocktail in a glass.

It was 2020 and the pandemic was just starting to bear down on our little city of Beacon, NY.

As a distillery, we at Denning’s Point Distillery were deemed “essential” and allowed to continue manufacturing. We used our facility to make hand-sanitizer for the community but we were a bit perplexed about what the lock-down would mean for our little business. Would we even have a business with all the regulations limiting our operation?

Still, we soldiered on, opening on the weekends for no-contact hand-sanitizer pick-ups and bottle sales which the community so generously supported. The whole team was deeply touched when one morning we arrived to start our “essential” work to find that a lovely member of the Beacon community had left us a gorgeous vase of flowers with a thank you note, no name signed.
