This powerful film features interviews with senior Black residents who reflect on their personal family histories: moving to Beacon during the Great Migration, job opportunities with the rise of the industrial economy, the Civil Rights era, urban renewal’s destruction and displacement, and the current-day challenges of housing affordability. This documentary was made by Beacon High School students, volunteers with the Rise Up Project at St Andrew and St Luke Episcopal Church, the Foundation for Beacon Schools with the support of local contributors.
