The Beacon Pollinators’ third community meeting will include a discussion about how to select native plants to expand the growing season. By offering more varied plants the pollinators will have more sources of food from spring to fall. And the native plants will have a chance to visually shine.
The group will be offering attendees the opportunity to pre-order 15 different varieties of starter shrubs and trees. The plants were purchased from the Department of Environmental Conservation and there is a suggested donation of $5 per plant. Many of these native plants will augment a garden's natural habitat by attracting bees, birds and other pollinators. The plants will be available at the end of April or early May. They have been successfully tested at the Forrestal Elementary School pathway.
The Beacon Pollinators team is a volunteer working group under Beacon's Conservation Advisory Committee.
