The Beacon Litfest is honoring May’s Mental Health Month with “Stories We Don’t Tell” in the Salon Room at Savage Wonder Arts Center.
This is an evening of poetry, film, and stories for Mental Health Awareness Month. Starting with a short film, “Dear Shop Girl,” by award-winning director Nira Burstein, and moving into curated readings introduced by SLAM champion Nina Robins and others.
Explore themes of psychosis, depression, anxiety, and healing in an intimate setting designed for deep listening. This evening brings together film, poetry, and conversation to illuminate the often-unspoken realities of mental health.
By sharing creative work that questions, reveals, and connects, this is an invitation to reflect on how literature can challenge stigma and create space for understanding.
This program includes emotionally intense material. All are welcome—whether as readers, supporters, or those seeking language for their own experience.
