Here’s what you need to know
Keep it real, keep it short (150 words max), and keep the community spirit front and center.
While we can’t promise every story will make it to publication, we’ll be sharing as many as we can—because, just sometimes, the best Beacon stories are the smallest ones.
The fine print
- True stories only, please
- 150 words or fewer
- Must capture the heart of Beacon
- Email your story to hello@thebeaconbeaconny.com with subject line “Beacon Love Bites”
Please note: By submitting your story, you agree to our Submission Guidelines .
What you’re submitting
By emailing a short story to hello@thebeaconbeaconny.com, you’re letting The Beacon Beacon and the Beacon Historical Society consider your work for publication on our website and related platforms.
Your work stays yours
You retain full ownership of your story. If we publish it, you grant The Beacon Beacon and the Beacon Historical Society permission to share your work on our website, in newsletters, on social media, and in other editorial or promotional formats, now and in the future. This permission is non-exclusive, meaning you’re free to publish your story elsewhere, too.
Editing & presentation
We may lightly edit accepted stories for clarity, length, or style, and format them to suit our site. We’ll always aim to preserve the spirit and voice of your work.
Original work only
By submitting your story, you confirm that it is your original work and that it doesn’t infringe on anyone else’s rights. If your story includes real people or real events, please be sure you have their permission to share them or change the names to protect their privacy.
Submissions are unpaid.
Our editorial discretion
Not every submission will be published, and we reserve the right to decline or remove stories at our discretion.
Credit
We’ll always credit writers when their stories are published.
