Join local citizens for a marathon reading of the US Constitution, as part of Beacon’s 250th anniversary celebrations of America.
This unique event invites writers, artists, veterans, and local community members to read the entire foundational American text aloud.
Organized by 2025 & 20026 Dutchess County and Beacon Poet Laureate Ruth Danon, with collaboration by Stephanie JT Russell, Mitch Corrado, and Mike Jurkovic, the event is designed to be a collective civic reflection.
The reading will feature Palamountain Jr Chair in Government at Skidmore College, an expert on constitutional history, who will offer commentary during the reading
“We The People” is presented with the generous support of The Beacon Veterans Organizations. The event’s occurrence on June 19—Juneteenth—serves as a poignant backdrop for local citizens to reflect broadly on the document’s promises, progressions, and the ongoing journey toward true systemic equality.
